| es_PE |
dc.description.abstract | Determine the relationship between clinical and ultrasound criteria for
diagnosis of carpal tunnel síndrome in the Imagin service of Centro de Especialidades
Médicas Florencia de Mora- UPAO 2015.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A prospective analytic study was conducted in the Centro
de Especialidades Médicas Florencia de Mora-UPAO from June to December 2015, where
70 patients with possible CTS was studied. It is measured by ultrasonography the cross-
sectional área of the median nerve at the inlet of carpal tunnel in both hands and evaluates if
they meet the clinical criteria considered.
RESULTS: Of the 35 patients who presented with suspected carpal tunnel syndrome 28 were
female (80%). The found average age was 49.26 ± 9.13 years. Of the 35 patients in the study,
7 had compatible clinical criteria for bilateral and 24 unilateral, being the most affected right
hand. Through linear regression analysis correlation coefficient Spearman ““r““ with a value
of r = 0.94 and P <0.001 is calculated. Through the Student t test it found that the average
cross-sectional area of the median nerve of CTS patients was higher, with p <0.00.
CONCLUSIONS: There is association between clinical and ultrasound criteria for diagnosis
of carpal tunnel síndrome. Patients diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome have greater
measures of cross-sectional area of the median nerve. | en_US |
