La presente investigación se ejecutó en el distrito de Salaverry, Trujillo
con el objetivo de detectar tempranamente queratoconjuntivitis seca
aplicando el test de Schirmer en perros aparentemente sanos. Se
consideraron 60 caninos de diferente edad, raza y sexo de los cuales 23
(38.3%) mostraron riesgo de sufrir queratoconjuntivitis en el ojo derecho y
20 (33.3%) en el ojo izquierdo. Luego de practicar remedición a los 30 días,
el 65% (15/23) de los caninos progresaron a queratoconjuntivitis seca en el
ojo derecho y, el 70% (14/20) en el ojo izquierdo. The here presented investigation was carried out in the district of
Salaverry, Trujillo. The objective of this investigation was the early detection
of keratoconjunctivitis sicca in apparently healthy dogs, using the Schirmer
test. Sixty dogs who were of a different age, race and sex were tested, of
which 23 (38.3%) showed a risk of developing keratoconjunctivitis sicca in
the right eye and 20 (33.3%) in the left eye. After revising the test object
again after 30 days, 65% (15/23) of the dogs did infact develop
keratoconjunctivitis sicca in the right eye and 70% (14/20) in the left eye.
