Nivel de conocimiento y aplicación de las normas de bioseguridad en el área de endodoncia en estudiantes de estomatología de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego, Trujillo, 2017

Abstract

El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar el Nivel de conocimiento y aplicación de los estudiantes de Estomatología del ciclo académico 2017-II sobre las normas de bioseguridad en el área de endodoncia de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego – 2017. Este estudio fue prospectivo, transversal, descriptivo y observacional, se desarrolló en la Clínica Estomatológica de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego e incluyó a 132 estudiantes. Se empleó una encuesta, previamente validada (contenido, criterio y constructo) mediante un estudio piloto, obteniendo una buena confiabilidad (Alpha de Cronbach) en el nivel de conocimiento (α=0.704) y de aplicación de las normas de bioseguridad (α=0.713). Se aplicó la prueba estadística Chi cuadrado de homogeneidad de poblaciones y se consideró un nivel de significancia del 5 %. Los resultados demostraron que el nivel de conocimiento de las normas de bioseguridad y el nivel de aplicación de los estudiantes estuvo en un nivel regular con 70% y 57%, respectivamente. Al evaluar según el ciclo, en el nivel de conocimiento el VII ciclo presentó el mayor porcentaje (79%), y en el nivel de aplicación el VI ciclo obtuvo mayor porcentaje (93%). Finalmente se obtiene que existe una correlación significativa entre las variables (P =0.000). Concluyendo que los estudiantes de Estomatología de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego 2017-II, presentan un nivel regular de conocimiento y de aplicación de las normas de bioseguridad en el área de endodoncia.

The objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and application of Stomatology students of the 2017-II academic cycle about biosecurity standards in the area of endodontics of the Antenor Orrego Private University - 2017. It was prospective, transversal, descriptive and observational, it was developed in the Stomatology Clinic of the Antenor Orrego Private University and included 132 students. It was evaluated using a previously validated survey (content, criterion and construct) by means of a pilot study, obtaining a good reliability (Alpha de Cronbach) in level of knowledge (α = 0.704) and application of biosafety norms (α = 0.713) . The Chi square statistical test of population homogeneity was applied to the collected data and a level of significance of 5% was considered. The results showed that the level of knowledge of the biosecurity standards and level of application of the students was at a regular level with 70% and 57%, respectively. When evaluating according to the cycle, in the level of knowledge the seventh cycle presented the highest percentage (79%), and in the level of application the 6th cycle obtained the highest percentage (93%). Finally, we obtain that there is a significant correlation between the variables (P = 0.000). Concluding that the students of Stomatology of the Private University Antenor Orrego 2017-II, present a regular level of knowledge and application of biosecurity standards in the area of endodontics.
