Grado de cognición y medios informativos utilizados por estudiantes universitarios durante la pandemia por Covid -19

Abstract

Analizar el grado de cognición y los medios informativos utilizados por los estudiantes universitarios durante la pandemia por COVID-19 Material y Métodos: se diseñó un estudio observacional, transversal descriptivo, en el cual se incluyeron a 377 estudiantes de las distintas Facultades de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego a los cuales se les realizo una encuesta virtual que incluyo el consentimiento informado, datos sociodemográficos y un cuestionario validado sobre conocimientos acerca de la COVID 19 y los medios de información que utilizan los estudiantes. El análisis estadístico se realizó utilizando el paquete estadístico SPSS 25.0, usando la prueba de Chi-cuadrado para determinar el grado de asociación entre las variables sociodemográficas y las variables de interés, aceptándose una diferencia estadística de menos del 5% (p<0.05). Resultados: El 65% de los estudiantes universitarios lograron un buen grado de cognición, mientras que un 30% y 5% alcanzaron un grado medio y pobre respectivamente. El uso del internet y las redes sociales alcanzaron un 83.3% como medio informativo sobre la COVID 19, en contraste el uso de revistas y artículos científicos fue solo del 9.8%, siendo aún menor el uso de los medios de comunicación en masa con un 6.9%. Se obtuvo una significancia estadística significativa (p<0.05) a favor de los estudiantes de la Facultad de Medicina Humana y para aquellos que cursaban el ciclo de estudios superior o igual al 6to en relación al grado de cognición. Conclusiones: La mayoría de los estudiantes de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego, el 65%, tienen un buen grado de cognición sobre COVID 19 y el medio informativo más utilizado por los estudiantes fue el internet y las redes sociales con un 83.3%

To analyze the degree of cognition and the media used by university students during the COVID-19 pandemic Material and Methods: an observational, cross-sectional descriptive study was designed, in which 377 students from the different Faculties of the Antenor Orrego Private University were included, who were given a virtual survey that included informed consent, sociodemographic data and a Validated quiz on knowledge about COVID 19 and the media used by students. The statistical analysis was carried out using the SPSS 25.0 statistical package, using the Chisquare test to determine the degree of association between the sociodemographic variables and the variables of interest, accepting a statistical difference of less than 5% (p <0.05). Results: 65% of the university students achieved a good degree of cognition, while 30% and 5% achieved a medium and poor degree respectively. The use of the internet and social networks reached 83.3% as an informative medium about COVID 19, in contrast the use of magazines and scientific articles was only 9.8%, the use of mass media being even lower with 6.9 %. A significant statistical significance (p <0.05) was obtained in favor of the students of the Faculty of Human Medicine and for those who were studying the cycle of studies greater than or equal to the 6th in relation to the degree of cognition.
