| es_PE |
dc.description.abstract | OBJECTIVE: To determine the factors associated with mortality in preterm infants between 30 and 34 weeks with hyaline membrane disease, attended at the Hospital de la Amistad Perú-Corea Santa Rosa II-2 in Piura, during the period 2015-2021.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: An observational, retrospective, analytical, case-control study was performed, in which the medical records of preterm newborns with a diagnosis of hyaline membrane disease corresponding to the neonatology service in the archive of the Hospital Santa Rosa - Piura, comprised from January 2015 to July 2021 were reviewed. Forty-four cases and 88 controls were selected, being registered in a data collection form.
RESULTS: For the present study, 132 medical records were analyzed, of which 60.61% were male, 62.88% were born by cesarean section. A lower proportion of deaths was found in those who used early (23.73%) and late (33.93%) rescue surfactant compared to those who did not receive (64.71%); In addition, 25% did not receive corticosteroid administration and 71.21% required mechanical ventilation. In the multivariate analysis, gestational age (OR: 0.82; 95%CI: 0.69-0.99; p=0.049) and Apgar at 5 minutes (OR: 0.56; CI: 0.44-0.71; p<0.001) were found to be protective factors for mortality.
CONCLUSIONS: The main protective factors were found to be greater gestational age and an adequate apgar score at 5 minutes in newborns with hyaline membrane. | en_US |
