Relación entre la longitud del cuerpo mandibular y la clase esquelética en pacientes de 8 a 45 años de edad

Abstract

El presente estudio de investigación que tiene como objetivo determinar si existe relación entre la longitud del cuerpo mandibular y la clase esquelética en pacientes de 8 a 45 años de edad. El estudio retrospectivo, transversal, descriptivo y observacional se desarrolló en el ambiente de radiología de la Clínica Estomatológica de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego de Trujillo e incluyó un total de 132 radiografías laterales escogidas al azar. Las variables analizadas fueron longitud del cuerpo mandibular, clase esquelética, edad, sexo. Para evaluar la relación entre la longitud del cuerpo mandibular y la clase esquelética se utilizó el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman, con un nivel de significancia del 5%. Los resultados mostraron que existe relación entre la longitud del cuerpo mandibular y la clase esquelética, en pacientes de 8 a 45 años de edad. No obstante existe relación entre la longitud del cuerpo mandibular y la clase esquelética, para cada grupo de edad, menos de 31 a 45 años de edad.

The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between the length of the mandibular body and skeletal class in 8-45 years old patients. This retrospective, crosssectional, descriptive and observational study was conducted in the atmosphere of Radiology Clinical Stomatology at the Antenor Orrego Private University -Trujillo and included a total of 132 lateral cephalometric radiographs chosen at random. The variables analyzed were length of the mandibular body height, skeletal class, age, sex. To evaluate the relationship between the length of the mandibular body and skeletal class, I used the Simple Spearman correlation coefficient, with a significance level of 5% was used. The results show that there is no relationship between the length of the mandibular body and skeletal class 8-45 years old patients. However there is relationship between the length of the mandibular body and sketetal class for each age group, less than 31 to 45 years old.
