Asociación entre el nivel de conocimiento del VPH y practica de sexo seguro en estudiantes mujeres universitarias de la UPAO

Abstract

Determinar la asociación entre el conocimiento del VPH y práctica de sexo seguro en estudiantes mujeres de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego. Material y métodos: Se llevo a cabo un estudio transversal analítico donde se incluyeron a 376 estudiantes universitarias del semestre académico 2023-I de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego. Se conto con la aprobación del Comité de Ética del UPAO y el consentimiento informado de las participantes para la investigación, luego se realizó la encuesta por Google Forms sobre características sociodemográficas, conocimiento sobre el virus del papiloma humano y actitudes de practica de sexo seguro. Resultados: En cuanto al conocimiento del VPH entre estudiantes universitarias, se observó que el 21.5% tenía un bajo nivel, el 57.7% un nivel medio y el 20.7% un nivel alto. En relación con la práctica de sexo seguro, el 35.9% realizaba de forma inadecuada, mientras que el 64.1% practicaba de forma adecuada. Sin embargo, no se encontró una asociación significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento del VPH y práctica de sexo seguro según el análisis de la prueba de Chi Cuadrado (valor-p > 0.05). Conclusión: No existe asociación entre el nivel de conocimiento del VPH y practica de sexo seguro en estudiantes mujeres universitarias de la UPAO.

To determine the association between knowledge of HPV and safe sex practices in female students at the Antenor Orrego Private University. Material and methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out where 376 university students from the 2023-I academic semester of the Antenor Orrego Private University were included. The approval of the Ethics Committee of the UPAO and the informed consent of the participant for the research were obtained, then the survey was carried out by Google Forms on sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge about the human papillomavirus and attitudes of safe sex practice. Results: Regarding knowledge of HPV among university students, it was observed that 21.5% had a low level, 57.7% a medium level and 20.7% a high level. In relation to the practice of safe sex, 35.9% performed inappropriately, while 64.1% practiced adequately. However, no significant association was found between HPV knowledge and safe-sex practices based on Chi-square test analysis (p-value > 0.05). Conclusions: There is no association between the level of knowledge of HPV and the practice of safe sex in female university students of the UPAO.
