Each patient was evaluated and data were recorded in the dermogram cards; also, skin samples were taken on days 1, 7 and 15; which were treated with 4% potassium hydroxide for a period of 30 minutes, and then observed under the microscope in order to identify the various forms or stages of the mite. Sarolaner was administered orally in a single dose of 2mg/kg on the first day after the diagnosis was confirmed and then the response was evaluated 7 and 15 days after the administration of the drug. As a result, of the 80 canines evaluated as suspected of demodicosis, 25% (20/80) were positive for the disease, 14 (70%) were females and 6 (30%) were males; 15 (75%) were mongrels and 5 (25%) were purebred dogs; in relation to the efficacy of sarolaner, at day 7 no larval forms were found in 90% of the canines; however, nymphs and adult forms were still present; while at day 15 no evolutionary form of the mite was observed in any of the dogs. It is concluded that sarolaner administered orally to demodicosis-positive dogs at a dose of 2 mg/kg is effective in the treatment of canine demodicosises_PE
