),
comorbilidades y variables ginecobstetricas.
dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), is characterized by the absence of
hormone receptors, unlike the other subtypes (HRBC). It is one of the most aggressive
subtypes of breast cancer, with higher mortality and poorer prognosis. There are studies
that suggest its association with obesity, however, in our setting the behavior of this
condition on the development of TNBC is not yet well documented. The aim of the present
study is to determine the association between obesity and the diagnosis of TNBC.
Methods: A case-control study was carried out. We included 88 patients with TNBC
(cases) and 176 with HRBC (controls), which were collected through medical histories
from the Hospital EsSalud José Cayetano Heredia III-1, between 2015 and 2019. Obesity
(≥ 30 kg/mts2), comorbidities and gynecobstetric variables were assessed. Generalized
linear models were used to evaluate the association between TNBC and obesity,
considering the adjustment with other covariates; obtaining Odds Ratio (OR) and 95%
confidence intervals. Results: Obese patients were more likely to have TNBC [ORa:1.81,
95% CI: 1.00-3.29, p:<0.05]. Likewise, arterial hypertension (HT) [ORa:2.29, 95% CI:
1.20-4.37, p:<0.05] and blood glucose greater than or equal to 130 mg/dL [ORa:2.39,
95% CI: 1.22-4.71, p:<0.05] were significantly associated, increasing the odds of TNBC.
Conclusions: Obesity and other metabolic components, such as AHT and elevated
blood glucose, were risk factors for the diagnosis of TNBC | es_PE |
