Conocimientos de los padres acerca del asma y su relacion con la calidad de vida de sus hijos

Abstract

El presente estudio (Descriptivo-analítico-transversal-observacional) tuvo como objetivo principal determinar la correlación que existe entre los conocimientos de los padres acerca del asma y la calidad de vida de sus hijos; se realizó en el Hospital I Luis Albretch de la ciudad de Trujillo. La recolección de datos se hizo del 18 al 28 de febrero del 2017 en una muestra de estudio de 89 pacientes (de 7-14 años) con diagnóstico de asma y sus respectivos padres, atendidos en los Consultorios Externos de Pediatría del Hospital I Luis Albretch de la ciudad de Trujillo. Se aplicó 2 encuestas: la primera evaluó la calidad de vida del niño con 23 ítems y la segunda evaluó el conocimiento del asma por parte de sus padres con 17 ítems. Los datos fueron procesados con la herramienta informática SPSS versión 23 además del programa Excel 2016. Se utilizó el coeficiente de correlación no paramétrico Tau C de Kendall para variables ordinales con diferente número de categorías y el estadístico Chi cuadrado para evaluar la relación entre variables nominal - ordinal. Como resultado se pudo comprobar una relación directa, de grado fuerte y estadísticamente significativa (p˂.01) entre los conocimientos del padre sobre el asma y la calidad de vida de sus hijos, atendidos en consultorios externos de Pediatría del Hospital I Luis Albretch de la ciudad de Trujillo.

The present study (Descriptive-analytical-transverse-observational) had as main objective to determine the correlation that exists between the knowledge of parents about asthma and the quality of life of their children; Was carried out in the Hospital I Luis Albretch of Trujillo city. Data collection was done from February 18 to 28, 2017 in a study sample of 89 patients (aged 7-14 years) diagnosed with asthma and their respective parents, attended at the External Pediatric Offices of the Hospital I Luis Albretch of Trujillo city. Two surveys were applied: the first evaluated the quality of life of the child with 23 items and the second evaluated the knowledge of asthma by his parents with 17 items. The data were processed using SPSS software version 23 in addition to the Excel 2016 program. The Kendall Tau C nonparametric correlation coefficient was used for ordinal variables with different number of categories and the Chi square statistic was used to evaluate the relationship between nominal-ordinal. As a result, a direct, strong and statistically significant (p˂.01) relationship between the father's knowledge of asthma and the quality of life of his children, attended at the External Pediatric Offices of the Hospital I Luis Albretch of Trujillo city.
