E: Determine if Acute Kidney Injury is a predictor of In-hospital Mortality in patients diagnosed with severe Covid-19. MATERIAL AND METHOD: A retrospective cohort study was carried out, with 200 patients diagnosed with severe Covid-19 from the Hospital de la Amistad Perú - Corea Santa Rosa II - Piura. A univariate analysis was performed, presented by tables of frequencies and percentages, for the numerical variables the mean and standard deviation were used. And additionally a multivariate analysis was performed. RESULTS: Mortality was higher in the cohort exposed to ARI (95% vs 71.9%), showing a significant statistical association (p=0.002). The cohort exposed to ARI presented a higher SOFA score on admission to the ICU (2 VS 6; P=0.000), higher serum creatinine level on admission (0.68% vs 0.84%; p=0.000), higher range of age (59 vs 64; p=0.029), lower glomerular filtration rate (107.35 vs 47.2; p=0.000), higher frequency of Septic Shock (25% vs 10.6%; p= 0.01) and a median longer hospital stay (17d vs 12.5d) compared to the unexposed group. CONCLUSIONS: Exposure to acute kidney injury during hospitalization increases the risk of mortality by 5 times compared to unexposed COVID patients, increasing the risk of mortality based on the increase in the SOFA score on admission to the ICU and the increase in mg/dl of C Reactive Proteines_PE
