(1.767-2.662) p=0.016.
central es significativo OR=2,429 (1.767-2.662) p=0.016 y OR ajustado 1.36
(1.08-2.18) p=0.033 y el peso con OR=1.89 (1.78-2.04) p=0.043 | es_PE |
dc.description.abstract | To determine the association between body mass index and
abdominal circumference and the age of onset of menarche in schoolchildren
between 8 and 16 years of age.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Using a cross-sectional analytical design, we
reviewed 120 schoolchildren divided into two groups; Postmenarche G1 and
premenarche G2 comparing BMI and abdominal circumference.
RESULTS: A total of 120 female schoolchildren between 8 and 16.99 years of
age were studied, with an average of 12.14 SD 2.35 years of age, mean BMI
19.94 kg/m2, SD 4.06. Menarche occurred between 9 and 15 years the mean
age of menarche was 11,206 SD 1.03 years: The mean BMI was lower in the
premenarche group 18.4902kg/m2 ± 3.98 vs 20.9917 ± 2.97 post bmenarche
respectively, a significant p=0.00. The mean abdominal circumference was
66.383 ± .20 vs 72.4667 ± 6.39 in the pre- and post-menarche group, difference
6.1cms p=0.00. There is a low indirect correlation, Pearson's correlation
coefficient of -0.087 for BMI (p=0.510) and -0.038 for abdominal circumference
(p=0.771 Table No4: 66.95% of schoolchildren with obesity (BMI>P95) had early
menarche, compared to 46.15% of non-obese students. The risk of early
menarche due to obesity is non-significant: OR=1.429 (0.767-2.662), p=0.164;
OR=2.429 (1.767-2.662) p=0.016. The risk of early menarche due to central
obesity is significant OR=2.429 (1.767-2.662) p=0.016 and OR ajustado 1.36
(1.08-2.18) p=0.033 y el peso con OR=1.89 (1.78-2.04) p=0.043.
CONCLUSIONS: There is a low correlation between BMI and abdominal
circumference with age at menarche; schoolchildren who had menarche have
higher levels of BMI and abdominal circumference, central obesity is a risk factor
for early menarche. | es_PE |
