Aplicación del método PCI para la evaluación superficial del pavimento flexible de la avenida Camino Real de la urbanización La Rinconada del distrito Trujillo

Abstract

El presente trabajo de investigación tiene por objetivo obtener un indicador que permita precisar la degradación o condición del pavimento flexible, esto se obtiene realizando la Aplicación del Método PCI para la Evaluación Superficial del Pavimento Flexible de la Avenida Camino Real del Distrito de Trujillo, con la finalidad de solicitar su intervención oportuna, seleccionando la técnica más adecuada de mantenimiento, rehabilitación o reconstrucción al estado del pavimento flexible.

De acuerdo al Manual desarrollado por el Ingeniero Luis Ricardo Vásquez Varela, el método Pavement Condition Index (PCI) basado en la Norma ASTM D6433-03; constituye el modo más completo para la evaluación y calificación objetiva de pavimentos, siendo ampliamente aceptado y formalmente adoptado como procedimiento estandarizado, y ha sido publicado por la ASTM como método de análisis y aplicación.

Luego de realizar una entrevista al Subgerente de Supervisión y Liquidación de Obras de la Municipalidad Provincial de Trujillo, determinamos que las vías no han sido evaluadas antes de ser intervenidas bajo una metodología o procedimiento; esto nos permite realizar la evaluación superficial del pavimento flexible, para obtener su índice de condición con la aplicación de la metodología PCI.

Al realizar el estudio de tráfico respectivo determinamos que la carga de tráfico vehicular se ha incrementado por lo tanto al no encontrarse dentro del rango del estudio de tráfico del expediente técnico, se llega a determinar que es causal del deterioro prematuro del pavimento flexible en estudio.

Al realizar la evaluación superficial del pavimento flexible mediante el método Pavement Condition Index, se conoce que el estado de conservación de la Av. Camino Real es “EXCELENTE” con un PCI de 87.52

The present research aims to obtain an indicator that allows the degradation or the condition of the flexible pavement, this is obtained by applying the PCI method for the Superficial evaluation of the pavement Flexible of the Camino Real Avenue of the District of Trujillo, with the Service maintenance, rehabilitation or reconstruction in the state of flexible pavement.

According to the Manual developed by Engineer Luis Ricardo Vásquez Varela, the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method based on ASTM D6433-03; Is the most complete way for the evaluation and objective qualification of pavements, being widely accepted and formally adopted as a standardized procedure, and has been published by ASTM as a method of analysis and application.

After conducting an interview with the Superintendent of Supervision and Liquidation of Works of the Provincial Municipality of Trujillo, we determined that the roads have not been evaluated before being intervened under a methodology or procedure; This allows us to perform the superficial evaluation of the flexible pavement, to obtain its condition index with the application of the PCI methodology.

When carrying out the respective traffic study, we determined that the vehicular traffic load has therefore increased to be within the range of the study of traffic of the technical file, it is reached to determine that is causal of the premature deterioration of the flexible pavement under study.

When performing the surface evaluation of the flexible pavement using the Pavement Condition Index method, it is known that the state of conservation of Camino Real Avenue is ““EXCELLENT.““ with a PCI of 87.52.
