| es_PE |
dc.description.abstract | To proof whether elevated glycated hemoglobin is related to dyslipidemia in diabetic patients treated at the ""Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray – EsSalud"" during the years 2019 – 2022. Materials and Methods: An observational cross-sectional and analytical study was conducted. Chi-square and Student’s T-test or Mann-Whitney test were used to compare the means of continuous data. Results: The study included 227 patients, of whom 81 had HbA1C ≤7% and 146 had HbA1c >7%. Patients with elevated HbA1c had an average age of 60.6 years, while those with normal HbA1c levels had an average age of 61.2 years, which was statistically significant (p=0.037). Elevated HbA1c levels were more frequent in women (60.9% vs 39.1%) compared to men (p=0.010). The type of treatment received by patients was related to elevated HbA1c levels, with oral treatment alone being more common (69.8%), followed by insulin-only treatment (19.1%). HbA1c showed a significant relationship with total cholesterol, triglycerides (TAG), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). Patients with HbA1c > 7.0% exhibited significantly higher values of total cholesterol (CT), triglycerides (TAG), and LDL compared to those with HbA1c ≤ 7.0%. However, no significant differences were found in HDL-C and VLDL values for the two groups. Conclusions: Elevated HbA1c is related to dyslipidaemia in diabetic patients | es_PE |
