Objective:
To determine the relationship between the clinic and the laboratory tests with the
anatomopathological findings in acute appendicitis of the Peru-Korea Friendship Hospital
II-2 Santa Rosa June – December 2017.
Material and method:
The present study was quantitative of relational, retrospective type with109 clinical histories
of patients operated on with acute appendicitis, older than 15 years who fulfilled established
inclusion and exclusion criteria. First, the most important characteristics of the clinic,
laboratory tests and anatomopathological findings were determined, then the association
between the study variables was analyzed, which involved performing the Chi square test.
Consecutive analysis of the concordance between the clinic, the laboratory tests and the
anatomopathological findings was performed by the Cohen's kappa nonparametric index
statistic
Results:
After the analysis, it was found by the Chi square test, a p value of 0.000132 with 16 degrees
of freedom for 109 valid cases, the p value found was less than α = 0.05 so the null
hypothesis is rejected and the hypothesis of the researcher, with a good concordance level
of 0.666
Conclusions:
There is a relationship between the clinical and laboratory tests with the
anatomopathological findings in acute appendicitis of the surgery service of the Hospital of
Friendship Peru-Korea II-2 Santa Rosa, having obtained a p value less than 0.05 for the
Chi square association test and a Cohen Kappa index of good agreement.
