| es_PE |
dc.description.abstract | Objective: To determine the predictive value of the platelet / lymphocyte index (PLI) for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis (AA) in the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo. Material and Methods: A non-experimental, observational, retrospective type of investigation was developed in 252 appendectomized patients attended during the period 2015-2018, of which 161 presented uncomplicated acute appendicitis due to a pathology report and 91 did not present acute appendicitis due to a pathology report. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of the PLI were determined. Results: PLI has predictive value for the diagnosis of uncomplicated AA in the population of our research, and when applied could reduce the rate of appendicectomy patients without AA, with a sensitivity of 75.2%, a specificity of 53,8%, a positive predictive value of 74.2% and a negative predictive value of 55.1% of the IPL for the diagnosis of uncomplicated AA in the study performed. Conclusion: PLI presents a high predictive value for the diagnosis of uncomplicated AA. | en_US |
