This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with symptoms of gastritis among medical interns from various hospitals in Piura during 2024. Materials and Methods: An observational analytical case-control study was conducted with a sample of 90 medical interns, divided into two groups: with and without symptoms of gastritis. Data were collected through a structured survey and analyzed using chi-square tests, odds ratios (OR), and multivariate analysis, with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: Interns with gastritis symptoms had a significantly lower mean age (25.33 ± 2.20 years) compared to those without symptoms (27 ± 4.58 years, p=0.034). Significant risk factors included obesity (OR=3.77, p=0.01), family history of gastritis (OR=3.92, p=0.005), caffeine consumption (p=0.02), tobacco use (p=0.001), irregular meal schedules (p=0.007), and self-medication with NSAIDs (OR=5.05, p=0.001). However, no significant differences were found in other factors such as sex (p=0.54), family situation (p=0.29), alcohol consumption (p=0.12), type of food (natural or processed, p=0.087), anxiety (p=0.60), and stress (p=0.57). Conclusion: The most relevant risk factors for gastritis symptoms in medical interns were younger age, obesity, family history of gastritis, caffeine and tobacco consumption, irregular meal schedules, and self-medication with NSAIDs. Factors such as sex, family situation, alcohol consumption, type of food, anxiety, and stress did not show significant associations. These findings highlight the importance of preventive and educational interventions to reduce the incidence of gastritis in this vulnerable populationes_PE
