El promedio de presión arterial subió significativamente (20.1/9.56 mmHg) durante la pandemia. dc.description.abstract | To determine whether the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the proportion of controlled hypertensive patients in the hypertension program at Florencia de Mora Hospital. Material and Methods: A comparative cross-sectional observational study was conducted on hypertensive patients treated during the periods January to December 2019 (pre-pandemic) and July 2020 to December 2021 (pandemic). Results: Data were obtained from a saturated sample of 170 patients in 2019 and 170 during the pandemic. The average age was 71.05 ± 11.61 years pre- pandemic and 71.6 ± 10.8 years during the pandemic, with those over 60 years old accounting for 83.53% and 88.24%, respectively. Women represented 60% overall. Patients received an average of 1.56 antihypertensive medications. Of these, 55.00% received monotherapy, 33.52% were on two antihypertensives, and 11.47% used three drugs. The proportion of controlled patients was 75.29% pre-pandemic and 40% during the pandemic. The average blood pressure was 124.2/70.24 ± 18.27/10.14 mmHg pre-pandemic and 144.30/79.8 ± 21.27/10.67 mmHg during the pandemic. Among patients under 60 years old, the average blood pressure was 118.5/72.75 mmHg pre-pandemic, compared to 125.32/69.67 mmHg for those over 60. During the pandemic, the blood pressure for those under 60 averaged 139.7/72.25 mmHg, while for those over 60, it was 144.91/71.04 mmHg. Conclusions: The proportion of controlled patients decreased significantly (35.29 percentage points) during the pandemic. The average blood pressure increased significantly (20.1/9.56 mmHg) during the pandemic. The pandemic did have an impact on the proportion of controlled patients at Hospital II E Florencia de Mora. | es_PE |
