(p = 0.085; OR = 1.94 IC:95% [0.91 – 4.16]).
Objective: To determine the association between anemia and mortality in patients diagnosed with COVlD 19 at the Santa Rosa de Piura Hospital between March 2020 and December 2020. Materials and Methods: An observational, retrospective, longitudinal, casecontrol study was carried out. 135 patients with a diagnosis of covid-19 attended by the Medicine service at the Santa Rosa de Piura Hospital entered the study during the period from March to December 2020, according to selection criteria they were divided into 2 groups: with anemia and without anemia; applying the odds ratio, and the statistical chi square test. Results: It was found that anemia was not associated with or a risk factor for mortality in patients with COVlD 19. (p = 0.085; OR = 1.94 CI: 95% [0.91 - 4.16]). The study found that 30% of patients had anemia. Of the total number of patients who died from COVID 19, 40% had anemia and 26% of the survivors had anemia. In relation to the frequency of the degrees of anemia in deceased patients with COVID 19, it is observed that 27% present mild anemia, 7% present moderate anemia and 10% severe anemia, this comparison being not statistically significant (p> 0.05) Among the intervening variables, such as creatinine (p = 0.003), Urea (p = 0.001), C-reactive protein (p = 0.007) and Leukocytes (p = 0.026) if they are associated with mortality in patients with COVID 19.. Conclusions: Anemia is not associated with mortality in patients with COVlD 19 at the Santa Rosa de Piura Hospital.en_US
