presentaban deterioro cognitivo, 49 (67%) presentaron hiperuricemia.
p=0.000, y con una edad mayor de 65 años OR= 1.08, IC 95% 1.04-1.13

at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital.
Material and Methods: This study with an analytical, observational, and cross sectional design included 168 patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (GFR
>15 y <60/ml/min/1.73 m2), who attended the Nephrology service of Hospital Víctor
Lazarte Echegaray during the period of November 2019 to March 2020. Each
patient underwent an interview to assess mental status using the Mini Mental Test
and determine the presence or absence of cognitive impairment. Patients with
dementia, Alzheimer's disease, psychiatric diseases, sequelae of cerebrovascular
disease, and gout were excluded.
Results: A total of 168 patients were evaluated, of which 60% were male, with an
average age of 77 years. The patients who presented cognitive deterioration were
73 (43%) and 70 presented hyperuricemia (42%). Of the 73 patients who presented
cognitive impairment, 49 (67%) presented hyperuricemia. Then, hyperuricemia was
related to cognitive impairment by an odds ratio of 5.19, 95% CI 3.62-14.31, and
p=0.000. Likewise, the multivariate analysis showed that cognitive impairment was
related to hyperuricemia OR= 5.1, CI 95% 3.17-15.51, and p=0.000, and with an
age older than 65 years OR= 1.08, CI 95% 1.04-1.13
