| es_PE |
dc.description.abstract | To determine the factors associated with adherence to
pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment in patients with the human
immunodeficiency virus (PHIV) in a hospital in Piura during the 2018-2020
period.
Methods: Observational, analytical, prospective, case-control study to
determine the level of adherence to antiretroviral treatment (ART) in a hospital
in the Piura region, during the years 2018-2020. The selection of cases and
controls according to the established selection criteria. The data was processed
in IBM SPP. Bivariate and multivariate analysis were performed to assess the
strength of association.
Results: This study recruited 137 PHIV. 62.8% of participants between 18 and
39 years old, with secondary school completed 40.1%. 70.8% came from the
coastal region. 55% of the PHIV were non-adherent and 44.5% adherent. In the
multivariate analysis, it was identified that PHIV who are between 40 and 59
years old have a 57.29% more probability of being adherent, PHIV who are
married have 87.37% more probability of being adherent to treatment, PHIV
who consume alcohol have 4.4 times risk of not being adherent.
Conclusions: Failure to comply with medical indications, alcohol consumption
is associated with a higher risk of non-adherence in PHIV. Being married or
older than 40 favors adherence in PHIV. | en_US |
