OBJETIVO: Evaluar la asociación entre sobrepeso/obesidad y el desarrollo de los
testículos en niños de 4 a 14 años en el Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray
septiembre –noviembre 2015.
MATERIAL Y MÉTODO: Realizamos un estudio observacional, analítico, de
corte transversal, que evaluó 142 niños (sexo masculino) de 4 a 14 años de edad, los
cuales fueron distribuidos en dos grupos, grupo con sobrepeso y obesidad 73 niños y
grupo con el índice de masa corporal(I.M.C) normal 69 niños.
RESULTADOS: La edad promedio de los niños con sobrepeso y obesidad fue 7,52
± 2,54 y de los niños con peso normal 7,94 ± 3,18 (p > 0,05). La procedencia urbana
en ambos grupos fue 24,66% y 10,15% respectivamente (p < 0,05). El índice de
masa corporal (I.M.C) promedio de los niños con sobrepeso y obesidad fue 21,11 ±
3,16 y de los niños con peso normal 16,38 ± 1,47 (p < 0,001). El volumen testicular
en los niños con sobrepeso/ obesidad fue 3,53 ± 3,54 cc y en los niños con peso
normal fue 4,30 ± 4,76 cc. El volumen testicular en los niños con obesidad fue 3,55 ±
3,99 cc, con sobrepeso 3,51 ± 2,87 cc y en los niños con peso normal fue 4,30 ± 4,76
cc.
CONCLUSIONES: En el presente estudio se ha encontrado una asociación inversa
entre sobrepeso/obesidad y desarrollo testicular en niños de 4 a 14 años en el
Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray septiembre –noviembre 2015. “ OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between overweight / obesity and the
development of testis in children aged 4 to 14 years in the Hospital Víctor Lazarte
Echegaray September-November 2015.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: We performed an observational, analytical, crosssectional
study that evaluated 142 boys from 4 to 14 years of age, who were divided into two groups, 73 overweight and obese children and a group with normal body mass index (BMI) 69 children.
RESULTS: The mean age of overweight and obese children was 7.52 ± 2.54 and of
children with normal weight 7.94 ± 3.18 (p> 0.05). The urban origin in both groups
was 24.66% and 10.15% respectively (p <0.05). The mean body mass index (BMI)
of overweight and obese children was 21.11 ± 3.16 and of children with normal
weight 16.38 ± 1.47 (p <0.001). The testicular volume in overweight or obese
children was 3.53 ± 3.54 cc and in children with normal weight was 4.30 ± 4.76 cc.
The testicular volume in children with obesity was 3.55 ± 3.99 cc, with overweight
3.51 ± 2.87 cc and in children with normal weight was 4.30 ± 4.76 cc.
CONCLUSIONS: In the present study we have found an inverse association
between overweight / obesity and testicular development in children aged 4 to 14
years at Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray, September-November 2015.
