The objective of the study was to compare the in vitro marginal microfiltration of a
self-etching adhesive and a conventional ink-seal adhesive in resin
restorations.cereal stamp adhesive was compared in resin restorations.
The study was performed with 72 healthy lower premolars, randomly distributed in 2
groups with 36 teeth for each. A pilot study was carried out with 20 teeth, 10 being
for each group. Black Class II cavities were made and the restorations were made
with resin using both types of adhesives. Adper Easy 3M self-etching adhesives
were placed in group A and group 3M single bond adhesive was placed on group B.
Subsequently, the samples were immersed in 2% methylene blue for 24 hours, then
washed, dried and sectioned in mesiodistal direction and analyzed in a stereoscope
microscope with a 40x magnification. The degree of microfiltration of the self-etching
presented to the adhesives was 0 (47.22%), grade 1 (36.11%), grade 2 (11.11%)
and grade 3 (2.56%); and the engraving adhesive, total microfiltration, grade 0
(44.44%), grade 1 (44.44%), grade 2 (8.34%) and grade 3 (2.78%). Compared with
the adhesives there were no significant differences for a p = 0.8454.
It was concluded that there is no difference in the degree of marginal microfiltration
in vitro in resin restorations made with self-etching adhesives and total-etch
adhesives.
