To determine which degree of obesity indicates a risk factor for the development of venous thromboembolism in patients hospitalized for COVID-19. Material and method: A retrospective case-control analytical study was carried out, where 108 patients hospitalized for covid-19 were included, respecting the selection criteria, which were grouped into patients with PE and without PE according to their BMI during their hospital stay. , the chi square and odds ratio statistic were calculated. Results: Conclusions: It was found that grade I, grade II, and grade III obesity significantly increase the risk of venous thromboembolism in patients hospitalized for COVID-19. The findings suggest that early identification of the risk of venous thromboembolism in obese hospitalized patients is crucial to prevent serious complications and optimize treatment management.en_US
